Teaching Interaction Designers to Code

A 3.5-year research-through-design project building the Creative Coding Challenges platform for design students at the University of Sydney. I led the thematic meta-analysis across 60+ student interviews, surfacing the tension between empowerment and anxiety in open-ended learning. Published in Frontiers in Computer Science, 2022.

Redesigning DECO3200: five streams, one capstone

The capstone studio for graduating Interaction Design students was treating everyone the same. I redesigned it around five specialisation streams, each with its own expert tutors, tailored requirements, and an industry guest lecture. USS score went from 3.62 to 4.09 in one year.

Loopin: a habit tracker built on accountability

Staying consistent is hard alone. Loopin is an iOS app where you share a habit with someone you care about, check in daily, and see each other showing up. I led all the product thinking - from early problem framing through user flows, information architecture, and a full high-fidelity UI system.

From Parking Meters to Vending Machines

Seven self-service technologies, thirty participants, one consistent finding: people are left to figure it out alone. Published in IJHCI 2024, this study used SUS scoring and thematic analysis to surface the usability failures cutting across every machine type. 84% scored below the usability threshold.
